Do door to door leaflet drops still generate business?

Now a days lots of companies invest a large amount of their money into online marketing such as SEO, PPC and social media marketing but is there still a call for door to door mailers?

Before the days of the internet, most of the marketing done by companies was done by paper mail outs and door to door salespeople. Paper mail outs could end up being very costly and some companies found that they got very little return on investment when doing them. One of the biggest issues with print work is making sure that it is all one hundred percent correct before it is printed as you will have to pay for the whole job to be corrected and printed again if mistakes have been made. You could still send it out with crossed out sections or stickers to cover up mistakes but this looks far from professional and may even be more detrimental than anything else. or risk sending something out that contains mistakes.

Paying someone to deliver your leaflets door to door can also be expensive. You may have two or three field agents out a few days a week and only generate one sale containing a small profit. You also need to trust that they will deliver them to the houses you have asked them too and not just dump leaflets.  Once you have taken in to account the salary that you are paying the members of staff or freelancers to deliver the leaflets, you will probably have lost on the deal.

Despite this, many companies still do mail outs and this does seem to still work quite well for the retail industry especially if you can give them a discount code to use in store or online.
