Historically, before the days of emails, phone calls and text messages, letter writing was the only way to communicate with someone who lived away. Although now a days you may find it easier to wrote emails, send a message or call someone there will still come times in your life when you need to be able to write a letter. It may be that you want to apply for a job and they have asked for a letter to accompany your CV or maybe you wish to raise a complaint to a company or possibly write to an elderly relative that may not use emails etc. Without the basic letter writing skills, these tasks can seem a lot harder than they need to be.
Many people opt for using a computer when writing letters, as most software applications such as Microsoft Word have a built in spelling and grammar checker. This can be very useful, but you should also try and do some research (if you do not already know) on how to structure a letter and how to write it to make it interesting to the reader.
There are very often letter writing skills workshops run online or at local colleges that you may wish to attend.
