Save money by savvy packaging

Many more of us are using the postal service to send parcels either to friends and family who live away or because we have sold items on selling sites. The cost of posting items can be expensive so how can these costs be reduced by a bit of clever packaging?

Postage rates are not just calculated on the basis of weight alone but on size dimensions too. That means you need to be super-efficient when it comes to wrapping your parcel. For example, you may be using newspaper or wadding for stuffing to protect the contents of the parcel when a small amount of bubble-wrap would be more cost-effective and equally as good. Perhaps you do not need to use a box at all but could put your delivery in a large, padded envelope or plastic bag instead.

Whichever method you choose to wrap your deliveries, the safety and security of the item has to come first. You do not want the goods to be damaged by the time they reach their destination, so it is important that the packaging is substantial enough. However, provided you can keep goods protected while shrinking down wrapping requirements, you should make substantial savings when it comes to postage costs.
