Print design is a hard task, it is not as forgiving as designing a web page for example, as once you have committed to the print work, if there are any errors (that are not the fault of the printing company) then you will be liable for them and have to pay again for the print work to be re done.
Below are a few tips on how to make sure your print work is correct before printing:
- Bleed lines – with print work you need to allow for slight cutting errors or differences so if for example you are printing a poster which has a blue background, then you need to ensure that the colour is carried over the printable area in case it is cut slightly larger. If you do not do this you may find that you have a white line on one or more of the edges.
- You don’t always have to stick to the standard paper sizes. Having a square booklet or even business card design can be great and look quirky making it stand out against others.
