Is direct marketing still useful in B2B?

Direct marketing has been about for a good number of years now, but many businesses wonder if it can work for them if they sell directly to other businesses (B2B) rather than a consumer (B2C)?

Direct marketing strategies often convert into sales at a lower rate than organic inbound traffic but it has proven to be successful in its ability to drive qualified leads at scale.

Direct marketing describes any marketing technique that brings a message directly to the potential client instead of waiting for them to find your company, complete and enquiry form or make a purchase form your site. You can use several different forms of direct marketing such as through email, telemarketing and direct mail. All of these are aimed at enticing the end user in to interacting with your business.

Direct marketing is still very successful even when marketing to other business, but you may need to change tact. Whereas lots of direct marketing to consumers is done via email or text, you may want to try sending out a direct mailer to a business. Businesses are often inundated with tons of emails every day and so yours may get missed or dismissed without even being opened. Sending out a personalised letter, gift or flyer to a business will often get it noticed more as it they tend to get less of this type of communication.
